Currently, medical services are extended down to the level of grass-root units. Clinics of different scale provide medical support at different levels of the military. The services these medical units offer are broad, ranging form sunstroke prevention, preliminary medical treatment, urine test for drug abuse, immunization shot to first-aid training, and birth control. In addition, these units support the government efforts in combat of AIDS and other infectious diseases. Military doctors after graduate from National Defense Medical Center will be dispatched to serve at grass-root units, and after complete specialty training, they will be stationed in off-shore islands in order to constitute a comprehensive military medical service network.
